February 2018 Newsletter
Dear Members and Supporters,
With carnival safely behind us, we have several social and cultural activities in store for you in the coming months. Mark your calendars:
March 2: Peruvian Happy Hour
March 17: Sculpture Biennale at Jardim Botânico
April 7: Architecture Walk
April 15: Hike to the Cachoeira dos Macacos
May 10: Yacht Club Happy Hour
May 26: Pancake Breakfast at OLM
June 10: Pakistani Lunch
Planning for even more events is underway. For some of our popular events with a capacity constraint, such as the Yacht Club happy hour and the Pakistani lunch, priority for reservations will be given to members. Details for each event will be distributed by flyer and put up on the website. Renew your membership or join now to ensure that you can manage to go to all events.
You can renew by bringing cash or check to our happy hour at the Inka Restobar this Friday. Enjoy 2-for-1 on beers and caipirinhas, order from a variety of Peruvian delicacies, and listen to or dance to Latin music. Bring friends!
On March 17, from 10 am to noon, we have a double treat in store for you: a visit to the Botanical Gardens and a guided tour of the International Sculpture Biennale. Peter Palashevsky will be our guide for the artworks. This will be the last day of the Sculpture Biennale, and so don’t miss it. We particularly welcome any botany enthusiasts who could help provide interesting tidbits on the flora on display there. No reservations are required and there is no charge, other than the R$15 ticket to enter the gardens, with the usual discount for students and seniors.
See you soon at one of our upcoming events or at a Board meeting!
Best regards,
Mateen Thobani
